Visual Art Workshops
for Schools: Aboriginal Art
This workshop begins by setting the context
for Aboriginal Art in terms of both the history of the Australian Aboriginal
people and the creation stories of the ancestral beings that underpin
much of the art. Children explore some of the symbolism in the paintings
and use aboriginal images to inspire their own work. Working with paint
on hardboard (rather than pigments on bark) children are none the less
able to produce some evocative paintings of their own.
