Visual Art Workshops
for Schools: African Masks
This workshop has been a regular favourite
amongst teachers and pupils alike. The process is fun and also the children
produce their own masks to wear or display. This workshop is suitable
for children in the 4-11 age group. They are provided with contextual
information about the significance and use of masks in African cultures
and visual examples to generate ideas. The base can be constructed from
paper and glue (as above) or from cut out card, which makes the process
suitable for younger children.
