Visual Art Workshops for Schools: Textiles

Designed to encourage experimentation with a range of materials, these workshops help to develop skills and dexterity as well as increase awareness of colour, texture and form. The workshops incorporate a range of basic skills such as weaving, tieing, plaiting, simple sewing techniques and relief printing on fabric and plastic. There is scope in this medium for short two-hour introductory workshops or full-day sessions, which work from introducing basic techniques to the production of a simple finished product. This workshop offers flexibility as it can be tailored to the needs of the school or linked to specific aspects of the curriculum. There is scope to focus on abstract ideas and shapes or to draw on representational subjects as required.
As with all workshops the starting point is an introduction to artists who have worked in the medium. Children are then encouraged to begin by researching, designing and planning.

First Step:
If you are interested in any of the workshops listed then please make contact by phone or email. You are under no obligation at this stage and we would be pleased to discuss your requirements and provide more detail about any of the workshops.
If you can’t find exactly what you are looking for, it is usually possible to customise a workshop to your requirements.

Second Step:
If you do decide to proceed you will be asked to identify and confirm a date and then you will be sent a letter confirming arrangements.

Third Step:
Prior to the workshop you will also be contacted to confirm materials and resources that are required. You will then be sent a Pre-workshop Information Sheet, listing agreed materials and arrangements.
